Coture Conversations: The Legendary R&B Soul Singer and Writer Donell Jones

R&B Soul the musical genre has been a staple in the Black community and a worldwide influence. That is not to be questioned. But, very seldomly a great artist comes along that exhibits the cool, style of fashion, and a demeanor that draws the ladies in while the men respect it with no envy. Why would you envy someone so in tune with the class and Black excellence we all have buried inside of us that he helped to bring to the surface of most of us in the late 90s and 2000s through his music?

Donell Jones literally gave us the tools and blueprint of how to carry ourselves like gentlemen understanding the importance of love and how to treat our women. Huge hits like "Where I wanna be" broke down the true feelings of a young man wanting to do right but having lustful feelings that needed to be explored as you grow to get the experience needed to shape you into a better man for the one you love. "So I'd rather leave than to cheat" was a message that helped us to understand that she doesn't deserve to be hurt but you have to find yourself. We related to this message so well.

He also hit us with records like "U Know What's Up" featuring the late great Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez of the supergroup TLC. This record is an anthem in its own right. To this day, it's a vibe when you trying to slide with a lovely lady to something smooth.

We will never forget the major smash hit with the late Big Pun "It's So Hard" that took radio by storm in the year 2000 after the big homie's untimely passing. This song touched the hearts of Black and Latino men, women, and children abroad and Donell Jones brought it home with his amazing vocals rendering it one of the biggest records in Hip Hop & R&B history.

With all of that under his belt, he's ready and equipped to deliver us more historic music coming back from a hiatus with his upcoming album entitled "100% Free" slated for a late 2020 release. Of course, we were blessed with the opportunity to sit down with the King and chop up some game. Check out our Coture Conversation below!
