Coture Conversations: Locklyn

Singing for your soul, Locklyn (IG) has a way of capturing your heart with her voice that has a gripping impact once her melodic waves enter your ears. Just recently she released 90s Love which is currently at 10.4k view and counting on YouTube.

We had the chance to sit down with the songstress and get some juicy deets for you guy so lets dive into the life of Locklyn (Twitter)

ACM: Today we tap in with our Canada connection to bring you guys a special guest. Please introduce yourself to our subscribers and tell them a little about where you're from.

L: Thank you so much for having me in this article, my name is Locklyn (FB) I am 20 years old and I am an aspiring artist from Toronto, Ontario

ACM: Talk about the culture of music in your family and your upbringing.

L: The culture of music in my family is very wide. Everything from classic music all the way to reggae! I was brought up listening to Mozart, Dan Hill, The Police, Phil Collins, Prince, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, TLC, Missy Elliot, The Beetles and so much more.

Broadway is also very big in my family, If I was not listening to music, I watched performances! I feel that having that wide range of upbringing in music has given me a passion for how much I love music. I also have family members who are extremely talented and have studied and played instruments, so this has also contributed to my musical culture.

ACM: Who are some of your influences?

L: I have a few, Beyoncé, Mya, Chris Brown and so many more!

ACM: Are there any artists that you are working with now? Also, who would you like to work with in the future?

L: I do not have any artists that I am currently working with now but If I were able to in the future it would be 6LACK, Chris Brown, Usher, and Drake.

ACM: You've had a couple of singles on the Canadian iTunes and Canadian Radio Charts. Talk about the opportunities that have afforded you and how you plan on taking advantage of them.

L: Thinking about it now unfortunately there has not been a lot of opportunities that have arrived from it.  I have met a lot of great people, but the industry is tough, and it is being in the right place at the right time.  BUT… What has come is the fans that are loyal to me and my music, I would never change for anything present, past, and future.

ACM: So, let's get down to the meat of this thing. You recently released a hot new single entitled '90s Love'. Tell us what inspired the concept and why you felt this was important to do.

L: The ’90s is a true love for me.  I love the era, the clothing, the dancing, the quality of music videos,

Tv shows/movies and music. When I look back it was a time of love and happiness.  I wrote this song to share “her” feelings to tell her lover what she can offer, what she requires, and needs hoping he can do the same in return. She wants a love full of fun and happiness and if they try and seem to fail then at least they tried!

ACM: Was the 90s the best era for R&B in your opinion?

L: YES! Heckkkk yes, if I had to choose one era to only listen to it’s the 90’s

ACM: Tell us about your upcoming album.

L:  I think of this album as the new me.  I have been waiting to show everyone this album for so long! The past little while the confidence in my music and the butterflies I feel when I know I am releasing new music is crazy.  I have never felt something so amazing in my life and I hope everyone has the opportunity to hear the new album and feel the same way or at least understand it!

ACM: Are there any other ventures that you're working on such as modeling, acting, etc.?

L: I’ve always wanted to get into modeling, but I haven’t really taken my focus off music enough to push myself towards it.  If the opportunity ever arrives, I will never pass it up!  I am also a photographer!  All my videos are in-house along with a partner.  We do all the design, shooting, editing, etc.  We have grown and I know if you look at one of my first videos to now, you can see the growth.

ACM: Thank you for taking the time out to chop up some game with us. At this time, you can shout out your team/fam and let the world know what magazine you rockin with!

L: I appreciate you guys and this opportunity. Thank you so much thank you!  But I also want to thank

Gregory Grindz and Hollywoodsos for this amazing work we have created. I cannot wait for you guys to see our masterpiece out there!  Big shoutout to my momma for constantly believing in me, you mean the world to me and I do this every day for you! Oh, and I’m rockin with Apex Coture Magazine!
