The Quest Chronicles: Radio Integrity

I have been working in the music industry for years & have been a radio personality for 8. From home studios to college radio & even syndicated. I’ve had the opportunity of experiencing all styles of radio broadcasting. Working hard & being recognized as a tastemaker in this industry especially in media has been a pleasure. Interviewing celebrities, independent artists & entrepreneurs has been a major highlight in my career.

 Being in this field, I have every right to take advantage of my platform but I do it in a way that fits my personality. I laugh, joke & may even shed a tear with a guest. I’m very entertaining but I make sure I keep integrity. Some celebrities are messy on reality shows and online but I don’t rush to get the juice. I always take another route unless they personally bring it up.

Even in those moments, I don’t seize the opportunity to dig deep for dirt. I’m respected because my platform is different. Relatable, informative yet entertaining. My platform is a place where guests have an opportunity to talk about the REAL them & what truly goes behind closed doors. Not only has this helped my career but made my new relationship with them stronger.

I wrote all of that to say this. We live in a society where other people's tragedies, messiness & downfall are our entertainment. I don’t agree with it nor will I partake. Be mindful of how you act & present yourself. Every platform or opportunity is not for you to get the latest scoop but for you to discover the hidden gem and story ready to be told.
