As we get older, the dynamic of life changes. The workload gets heavier with more responsibilities. Some get married, start to have children & less time to hang. Have you noticed your circle is either tight-knit or slowly starts to change as you grow in life? Have you ever looked at your friends & wonder “why are we still friends?” Do you eventually just tolerate them after a while because you’re just used to them? Sorta like family? Is that even healthy?
I’ve seen many groups of friends who have stayed together for years, some who have drifted apart, some who feel compelled to stay because of the history. There’s some who don’t even realize their friends are the ones who need to go, not knowing they may be holding you back from blossoming to your full potential.
I know a group of guys who have been friends since preschool, 30 years later, they are still a tight group, flourishing in their careers, started families & living their best lives.
Sometimes I look at my friends & it's obvious why we’re friends but at the same time, I question if I’m happy in the friendship. The same questions I’ll ask if I was evaluating an intimate relationship. Am I letting things slide or be overlooked because we’re friends yet in reality, continually being let down & just not saying anything?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to tell people to reevaluate every person in their lives but just open your eyes to certain signs. It may help you in the long run.
