"Singers such as Taveeta—a dancer and TV star who recently rebranded into a singing career are examples of the entrepreneurial wave that has swept over Toronto thanks to social media. Taveeta leans towards that of a Tinashe, relatively new but have stepped out with strong first single tracks."

(Los Angeles, California - July 9, 2017) In a world brimming with chance and opportunity, the long and winding road to success can be filled with its share of obstacles and impedances. Coupled with the highs and lows of everyday life experience teetering on its own see saw of emotions, staying above the tide can be a challenge. But like a phoenix rising from the ashes, 21-year-old Toronto singer Taveeta finds herself reborn through her own trials and tribulations on her pop R&B debut albumResurrection (Gladiator Records). Produced by the prolific Rezza Brothers (Cee-Lo Green, Musiq Soulchild), Resurrection is a dynamic nine track journey that mellifluously illustrates the path from the pangs of despair to the promise of

Resurrection is as much a personal statement on redemption and self-determination as it is a testament to the resiliency of the human spirit. The album takes unique approach to architecting the story of how paradise lost can be rediscovered within one’s self with time and effort. Employing a wide array of production styles and musical genres, the album brings listeners on a journey of volleying emotions and propulsive rhythms.

The set opens with the debut single “Paradise,” a scintillating summer cut pulsing with the revelry of an Ibiza beach party. On the track “Retrograde,” trouble in paradise brews as the astrological laws of the zodiac take hold. After a few pensive moments of truth, Taveeta begins the soul searching process of rebounding on the momentous lead single and title track "Resurrection." With intense layers of introspection and an unabashed willfulness to be reborn, Resurrection serves as a remarkable coming of age opus for Taveeta. It chronicles a transition into and the ownership of womanhood that rivals recent musical statements made by some of her more notarized peers. More than this, Resurrection is poised to establish Taveeta as one of Toronto’s next superstars in a world full of chance and opportunity. Resurrection also fashions itself as a tool for modeling persistence and making space for one’s own grief and growth.

Seamlessly transitioning from music to television Taveeta has been buoyed by her teenage success. She was cast in roles for The Next Step - a teen drama television series on Canada’s Family Channel and Nickelodeon's show Make It Pop co-created and executive produced by Nick Cannon. Taveeta broadened her reach by delving into the mystical realm of scripted science fiction and fantasy with an upcoming principle role in the final season of the television series 12 Monkeys (2018). Now she has focused her sights on making ardent strides in the film world as well. Her most recent credits include a leading role in the upcoming Max McGuire television movie The Sweetheartas well as a supporting role in the MGM film Every Day directed by Michael Sucsy(HBO’s Grey Gardens).

Yet while Taveeta has flexed her skills on sound stages and silver screens, the world at large has yet to bear witness to the full range of her miraculous talent. EnterResurrection - an effervescent musical body of work buttressed with elements of trap soul, electronica, pop, R&B and reggaeton that adeptly illustrates the undeniable relationship between struggle and progress. The album's theme finds its foundation in a wealth of personal experience.
