Audio Plug: Rick Ross - Set In Stone


 With the recent release of Rick Ross latest album Set In Stone, there has been a lot of hype and hate. People are divided online about this album, but over here at ACM, we're going to keep it a bean. We give the album its proper rating as 9/10, and honestly, we'd rather a 10/10. Why is that? Do you think we have a bias because we're based in Florida? Or do you think we can separate the online shenanigans from the music?


It could be a bit of both. We are fully aware of the beef with 50 Cent and G-Unit, the spats with Drake, and all of the online back-and-forths. We don't give a damn about any of that. We're focusing solely on the music, and with that, the big homie delivered.

For starters, the album is sonically top-tier, and the complaints about the same cadence fall on deaf ears over here, as his delivery is polished and he should give us what we always loved from his music. We also hear the complaints about the street credibility, or that he should not be speaking like a street Kingpin because of his past as a CO. We don't give a damn about that either, because what album did you listen to? We heard the majority of Luxury Rap infused with hustler motivation from a clearly defined mogul.


Normally we'd quote lyrics from certain records, but there's no need to. From "Caviar Bumps" to "The Algorithm", the album is well put together; from the features to the production, everything seems to be strategically calculated. The upscale feel of "Ring Around The Rolls" featuring the homie YFN Lucci steers the album in the direction that I was personally looking forward to, as this sound and verbiage motivate me to keep going in my profession to meet certain goals. The rich frequency of the production cannot be denied, no matter how many online bots or haters spam the comments.


We're not going to act like "Maybach Music VII" featuring Don Toliver and the legend Pastor Jay Jenkins, but you guys know him as Jeezy is not elevated Luxury Rap tunes. Let's just stop playing these internet games and get down to the real. If we're judging the music and the music only, you know this is quality music. It might be too rich for some ears, as the frequency of most popular music has been dumbed down to a negative. 

This is why Black American-owned publications are important in Black American culture. We have too many outsiders with their hands dipping into our jar, taking out of it but not putting anything back into it but negativity. 

We focus on excellence, and this album has proven to be that. Regardless of the streaming numbers. We know this album will stand the test of time. 

Salute to Renzel for delivering a rock-solid album in 2026 that those of us who seek musical motivation and pull from at times when we need it. When we see the power moves being made, like the recent expansion of his real estate portfolio, it makes the music more authentic. 

Who sits around and focuses on street shit when we all know it's dead and doesn't lead us anywhere but a courtroom or a casket?
