Apology To Chris Brown

Timbaland Offers Apology To Chris Brown Following Aaliyah Comments

During a recent interview with Revolt TV, Virginia producer Timbaland touched on the handful of posthumous Aaliyah collaborations released as of late. He went on to critique both Chris Brown and Drake for their records with the late singer and revealed that any future collabs with Aaliyah “would never work” since they don’t feature music created by himself and the songstress.
Following those comments, a self-proclaimed “over protective” Timbaland offered an apology to Brown via Twitter and stated that he did in fact “like” the song he released with Aaliyah.
"I want 2 publicly apologize 2 my lil homie @chrisbrown 4 my statements on revolt regarding the Aaliyah collaborations,” said Timbaland, according to HotNewHipHop.com. “i actually like the song wit him n Aaliyah, its just when you are talking about babygirl its a very sensitive subject with me. so the people who not only worked with her but grew a bond so tight we are like family so im very over protective over her. I have mad luv 4 my dude @chrisbrown. A mother lost a daughter. a brother lost a sister. that is still grieving over her passing. it just a very sensitive subject. I just want the family to be respected.”
In his interview with Revolt TV, Timbaland also called out Canadian singer/rapper Drake for his sampling of Aaliyah, but did not mention the Young Money artist in his Twitter apology.
“In music, people always say ‘I [wanna] do a song with Aaliyah.’ It would never work. Chris Brown got a record, it won’t work. Drake can go do a record with Aaliyah, it ain’t gonna work. Aaliyah music only work with a soul mate, which is me,” said the producer in an interview released earlier in the week.
Prior to Aaliyah’s death in 2001, Timbaland worked heavily with the Brooklyn-born singer and produced a majority of the songs featured on her sophomore album, One In A Million.
